The Books exhibition turns the technosocial corporate algorithms of social media space into a material analogue.  In the event Spam Parasites Erik Zepka will try to look at what the rhetorical implications are of that progession.  What is language, expression, what does a talk look like, what discussion.

Books is a series of exhibitions in art galleries, art museums, art institutions and art biennales around the world, featuring a selection of unique printed books with Facebook timelines by prolific artists who make facebook a part of their daily practice. The series is curated by David Quiles Guilló, Patrick Lichty and Erik Zepka.

The Books exhibition turns the technosocial corporate algorithms of social media space into a material analogue.  In the event Spam Parasites Erik Zepka will try to look at what the rhetorical implications are of that progession.  What is language, expression, what does a talk look like, what discussion.

"‘Social Books’, ‘friend day videos’, and the like define nervous lines along social and algorithmic curation as forms of corporate definition of our collective identity. What then, when someone places their life online, and allows it to be algorithmically curated into an artifact like a ‘social book’, what do we have?" - Patrick Lichty

"Digital folk aesthetics meets the participatory reality show... Your every move is charted towards self obliteration and synthetic reinvention, the performative demands of what material fragments remain... A Library of Babel for the personalised era of public simulation." - Erik Zepka
