Join us for the launch of PURE PROFIT by Raza Tariq, our artist in residence.
PURE PROFIT is a networked, site-specific installation spanning 11 ATMs across London. Developed by conceptual artist Raza Tariq during his Digital Artist Residency at arebyte Digital Art Centre (January - July 2026), the work reimagines ATMs as civic altars within an emerging technospiritual order. The project responds to arebyte’s 2023-2026 curatorial theme, The Body, The Mind, The Soul.
The experience begins with the ‘Talisman Ledger’, a wearable necklace containing a digital rendering of London’s spiritual map, translated into a shifting colour spectrum. By accessing the ledger, visitors unlock a pilgrimage route connecting the 11 ATMs selected by Raza. At each site, participants are invited to perform a ritual in exchange for a fragment of narrative and directions to the next location in the trail. Upon completing the journey, visitors receive wisdom from a living Sufi Sheikh.
PURE PROFIT launches on Saturday, 20 June at 2:30pm with a brief introduction by Raza Tariq and Pita Arreola, Head of Programmes at arebyte. The conversation begins at arebyte Digital Art Centre, followed by a short guided tour to the first two ATMs in the trail, both located within walking distance of the venue.
ARTIST BIO
Raza Tariq is a London-born conceptual artist whose work examines ritual & technē as coextensive systems. In a world where technology and its influence become invisible, he asks what form visual traditions surrounding shared ideas of an “invisible” take, resituating the Islamic as conceptual occurrence rather than classical object.
